The arrows of the orcs thunked fruitlessly to the ground behind her. "Ride on!" She said to her mount, over the shriek of wind. Morrot ran faster. The Black Land of Mordor faded behind her. The orcs became black specks in the distance. "Hurry, Morrot! We must reach Rivendell! We must help them! They must know of what we've seen!" Morrot growled, snorted, and ran even faster. Minyaondowen heard a horrible screech ring through the air, and she looked up in horror. Black shapes wheeled overhead. "Nazguls on wings! Hurry, Morrot!" Rivendell rose up before them, waterfalls streaming about it, breathtaking in the fading sun. "Hurry, Morrot! We must get--AAAAAAGH!!" One of the Nazguls had swooped down with its sword drawn, and stabbed her through the shoulder. Morrot lurched over to the right, and the sword was wrenched out. The Nazgul screeched as it was flung away. Minyaondowen slumped in her saddle and weakly clasped at Morrot's thick fur. They weren't going to make it. The Fellowship was doomed. Middle-Earth was doomed. She had failed . . . Morrot roared and pressed on. *** "I will take it! I will take the ring to Mordor! Though . . . I do not know the way," Frodo said. Aragorn was about to stand up, but suddenly . . . CRASH! The cement wall behind Elrond smashed away, and standing there, amidst the smoke and dust was a warg. "It is servant of Sauron! Kill it!" Boromir yelled, drawing his sword. There was the sound of multiple scrapes of metal, as all weapons were drawn. "Wait!" a beautiful voice chimed. "We are no enemies!" A beautiful woman lifted herself down from the warg's back and gently lowered herself to her feet. Her hair was as red as burnished copper. Her eyes were glistening pools of emerald green. She gracefully flicked dust off of her hair, and they all saw her face, as pale and beautiful as moonlight. Elegantly pointed ears stuck out from her wavy, scarlet hair. She staggered into the center of the ring, clutching at her wound in an effort to staunch the bleeding. "We are servants of Sauron that have rebelled and we come bearing news. If you do not heed it, Middle-Earth is doomed!" "We will listen to whatever you have to say," Elrond said. “Now, see here!” Gimli cried, waving his ax in her direction. “She is possibly a servant of the Enemy! And a woman at that!” He spat. “Why should we listen to her?!” “Shut up, you scummy hairball!” Legolas cried. “Listen to what she has to say!” “Nay, I agree forsooth verily!” Boromir cried. “The dwarf speaks the truth! And she is but a mere woman! ” “Hold your tongue!” Gandalf snapped. “And listen to what the Lady of Stars has to say!” "I--I--" Suddenly, Minyaondowen collapsed and fell to the ground. Legolas jumped to her side and cradled her in her arms. "She has been wounded by the Nazguls!” he cried. “Look at her shoulder!" *** “How is she?" Elrond looked up at Legolas. "She will recover, I think. But it will take time until we know for sure. It took all of my skill to keep her alive." Legolas looked at Minyaondowen wistfully as she lay on her bed in one of Elrond’s many guestrooms. A bandage was wrapped around her shoulder. "She is beautiful, is she not?" "You would be wise to stay away from someone who might be the servant of the enemy . . ." "Do you really think she is? I don't." "Well . . . I don't really know for sure. She had a warg, and that makes her seem like an enemy, but the warg gave up peacefully. If they had been working for Sauron, they both would have killed us all. Also, she was stabbed by the Nazguls. Why would they have stabbed her if she was an ally?" Legolas placed a hand on her soft, red head. "I don't know why anyone would want to stab someone so beautiful," he said. He leaned down slowly and gave her a soft, delicate kiss on the lips. "Wake up," he whispered. "Wake up, my fair maiden." Nothing happened. Legolas sighed and started to walk away. Suddenly, her eyelids stirred and flipped opened. "Where am I?" "My fair maiden! You awaken!" Legolas grabbed her hand and caressed it. Minyaondowen stared up at him, love forming in her silver-blue eyes with golden flecks. Who was this handsome elf? Elrond walked over and separated their hands callously. "Stay away from her!" he cried. "She may be an ally of the enemy still!" "I can make my own choices!" Legolas cried. "And she is a friend! I know it!!!" "How dare you disobey me in MY house, young one!" Elrond cried. A strange glint came over his eyes then, and he made a strange, guttural noise in his throat. It seemed to Legolas that there was a strange, reddish glow emanating from his left hand. Elrong reached into his robes and pulled out a knife. With a cry he leapt forward and tried to stab Legolas. "NO!" Minyaondowen cried. Hearing her cry, Legolas jumped back, and the knife narrowly missed him. Legolas pulled out his bow and arrows and as Elrond turned toward Minyaodown to stab her instead, he released an arrow and hit him in the chest. Elrond looked down at his chest in horror, and with a gurgling gasp, fell to the ground in a bloody slump. Legolas ran over to Minyaondowen and embraced her. She sobbed into his arms. "It is alright. It is over now," he said soothingly. "That is why I came here to warn you!" Minyaondowen sobbed. "Sauron has found a way to enslave the Elven Rings! He can control whoever holds them!" "What? Oh no!" "What is it?" "Frodo! Gandalf is alone with Frodo! We must save him!" Legolas ran out of the room, but before Minyaondowen followed, she stooped down and took Elrond's ring and placed it on her own finger. She was the daughter of Beren and Luthien, and now she was the only one pure enough to wield the Elven rings to defeat Sauron . . . `````````` Bah. {shudders} Wanted to flesh it out more, but I couldn't force myself to look at it long enough. Fixed the spelling and grammar mistakes as much as could though. Still, bah. {shudders.} Saphie
